The International Genealogical Index is now to be found on the Familysearch.org website. It was originally available on microfiche at libraries. It covered information contained in parish registers and Bishops Transcripts up to about 1850. Dates covered vary from parish to parish.
The counties of the UK that I have copies of the IGI that have reference to the name Glasby or variants are:-
Bedford | Berkshire |
Buckingham | Cornwall |
Cumberland | Derby |
Devon | Durham |
Essex | Gloucester |
Hampshire | Hertford |
Kent | Lancashire |
Lincoln | London |
Norfolk | Northumberland |
Nottinghamshire | Somerset |
Stafford | Surrey |
Sussex | Warwick |
Westmoreland | Wiltshire |
Worcester | York |
None found in Scotland OR Wales! | Ireland=Gillespie (some Clasby’s mentioned) |
The I.G.I. also groups similar names together, though this is sometimes to our advantage there is at least one of the counties I have since noticed had Glaspy further down the page and I know at some time I will have to check all the UK counties for other missing entries like this. * At the moment I feel I have a fair representation of the Glasby entries on the 1988 edition of the IGI.
The IGI is not error free, I would be interested to hear from anyone with errors they have found. The following are errors I have found in the Notts IGI:-

Marriage Henry Glasby and Mary STACK (Parish Register shows Shacklock) 1808 Lound.
